Kenya Diary
MASAI MARA, APRIL 2004; Well, where do I start? What a week! Packed from start to finish with specialist workshops and safaris, and being chased by an elephant. This photo was taken after we ran for cover as the elephants came wading through. One of the high points for me was painting with my new-found friend Jonathon Truss, and of course meeting David Shepherd.
From the moment I arrived I started sketching in oils - elephants, lions, cheetahs and leopards. This had such a dramatic effect on me as an artist that I am painting nothing but elephants at the moment, and the odd cheetah.
This small painting on the right, in oils, 8x10" was done on the spot, and will be finished later and used for further paintings.
This painting of a cheetah sitting on a termite mound is on canvas 8" x 10" and painted in oils on the spot - I know it looks like a fox but give me a couple of weeks! Anyway it really did look as cunning as a fox!
